Hotel Doge Venice is one of those charming and quaint 3 star Venice hotels that have been small family run accommodations since Venice first became a major tourist destination around 200 years ago. Not that this particular hotel is 200 years old, but the building is 17th century and here on Venice island, the historical centre pretty much covers everything above water.

A family run affair, Giampietro and Emanuela go the extra mile in order to provide a host of extra trimmings not usually found in Venice accommodations of 3 star standard. Breakfast is served daily directly to your room - usually a cop out for small accommodations with no breakfast room but in this case you’ll also find a hotel bar licensed and serving drinks and snacks all night.

The reception doubles up as a tour desk, where you can also exchange currency if necessary and even get a shoe shine! The ten ample rooms are charming yet simple and all but the singles have private en suite facilities. There’s also a family apartment with its own independent entrance and full self catering facilities, allowing you to make even more great savings on your value Venice accommodation! Santa Croce is one of the six districts that make up Venice’s main island and is located just south of Cannaregio in more or less the geographical centre of Venice. Santa Lucia Train Station is within easy walking distance, as is the Grand Canal itself and with it, waterbus routes to everywhere in the city, including St Mark’s Square to the east.
